2020 SVBA: Focus on the Digital Skills Trailblazer Award

The Digital Skills Trailblazer Award recognises the impact in digital upskilling made by organisations taking part in the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA).

What is iDEA?

iDEA is a programme that helps learners develop digital, enterprise and employability skills for free. It’s viewed as the digital and enterprise equivalent of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Through a series of online challenges, learners can win career and life enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and gain industry recognised awards that help them stand out from the crowd.

The badges can be completed in just ten minutes, allowing students to quickly learn a mixture of subjects.

What can I learn?

The badges cover a huge variety of topics, including social media, digital portfolios, website coding, GIF making, game designing, personal statements and more.

We’ve been working with schools to promote the benefits of the scheme and so far, 323 students have signed up to the programme.

Case study – Larkmead School

Since 12 June 2019,  eleven Larkmead students have completed 163 badges, with four earning their Bronze Awards and one student achieving their Silver Award.

These students can download a printable version of their Record of Achievement to go with their CV. Learners can also share a link to the live version of their Record of Achievement, which will update automatically as they earn more badges.

How do I know if I am eligible for the Digital Skills Trailblazer Award?

The award will be presented at the 2020 SVBA Evening Ceremony to the organisation whose learners have achieved the most bronze and silver awards by 22 April 2020.

The organisation and its learners must be enrolled in iDEA using a valid SVBS administered code. For details, or to enroll in the iDEA programme, please contact business.support@southandvale.gov.uk.
